Ceramics

I am very much looking toward to getting to work with ceramics in the studio tommorow. While searching ceramics on the internet I came across this beauitful piece. This very intricate piece of cermaics was awarded the Winnifred Shantz ceramics award. Christopher Reid Flock created this piece, he began working with clay when he was 23 at the Burlington Arts Centre.

Al Wei Wei

Al Wei Wei is a a Chinese artist most famous for his contemporary work. He takes old pots and is able to refurbish them into more modern pieces of ceramics. His work is displayed in an art gallery with a picture of himself dropping his own ceramic pot. I find his pieces very interesting because they put a modern twist on an older piece of art.

Terracotta Warriors

This is a re-do on an a terracotta warrior, with bright colors. Roughly 700,000 workers created the terracotta figures for the Emperor and each soldier has its own unique facial expression. It is very fined detailed in my opinion and found very interesting that there is a story behind all these warrior at the time of Qin Shin Huang.
