pinch pot


I looked up some images of pinch pots since that is what we will be doing in class. I really like this piece that I came across. It has been glazed with 2 colors that almost blend together. The design gives it a sense of texture, instead of it being a smooth surface. I like how for the most part, the artist kept the design symmetrical from what we can tell going around the pot. Also the top piece looks as if it was added to the pinch pot once it was completed.

Al Wei Wei is a a Chinese artist most famous for his contemporary work. He takes old pots and is able to refurbish them into more modern pieces of ceramics. His work is displayed in an art gallery with a picture of himself dropping his own ceramic pot. I find his pieces very interesting because they put a modern twist on an older piece of art.

Terracotta Warriors

This is a re-do on an a terracotta warrior, with bright colors. Roughly 700,000 workers created the terracotta figures for the Emperor and each soldier has its own unique facial expression. It is very fined detailed in my opinion and found very interesting that there is a story behind all these warrior at the time of Qin Shin Huang.
