Maria Longworth Nichols - Aladdin Vase





Aladdin Vase was designed and created by Maria Longworth Nichols.  It appears the wheel method was use to produce this piece of ceramic.  My favorite aspect is the attention to detail.  I like how the fish paintings appear to be swimming around the pot rather just a stationary design.

Al Wei Wei is a a Chinese artist most famous for his contemporary work. He takes old pots and is able to refurbish them into more modern pieces of ceramics. His work is displayed in an art gallery with a picture of himself dropping his own ceramic pot. I find his pieces very interesting because they put a modern twist on an older piece of art.

Terracotta Warriors

This is a re-do on an a terracotta warrior, with bright colors. Roughly 700,000 workers created the terracotta figures for the Emperor and each soldier has its own unique facial expression. It is very fined detailed in my opinion and found very interesting that there is a story behind all these warrior at the time of Qin Shin Huang.
