Pinch Pot
Pinch pots are one of the most basic and widely used forms of creating a clay or ceramic piece. Pinching clay allows for a sensitive feel of the clay and how well we can manipulate the clay when constructing it. Pinched pots can come in all shapes and sizes with either a chunky or thin edge. many clay whistles and pipes are constructed through the pinching method. The physics behind the pinch pot is very basic. The clay simply moves away from where ever pressure is being applied. The tip of the thumb typically pushes the clay at the bottom outward to widen the pot's floor.
