Shoji Hamada

Image result for shoji hamada pottery Shoji Hamada was a Japanese artist who was mostly known for his pottery work. He prided himself in making his own pottery and only used locally sourced materials in clay, glazes, and even his own tools that were constructed out of dog hair and bamboo. Hamada's pottery varies from plates to various different bowls. I like this particular slab piece because I love the perfect square shape with the small hole at the top. I also think the design is very simple but makes the piece look unique and interesting.
