For my independent project, I'll be using the image above as inspiration. I don't necessarily intend to replicate it exactly, but I aim to recreate a similar pot with the same style utilizing the coil technique that we learned in class. Perhaps I will incorporate an additional texture/pattern on the exterior surface, but I will determine the details as I create it. This image is a good visual representation of the direction that I will be taking my independent project toward.
Bernard Leach Pottery
This is a Bernard Leach ceramic piece. This marmalade jar was painted blue and has brown designs over a cream ground. The rim is thin and has a notch for a spoon which I thought was useful for its purpose. I enjoy the contemporary design and the simple shape of the jar. The brush work of the glaze gives the piece a sophisticated look and feel to it, which I enjoyed.
