Independent project

I decided that for my independent project, I would like to make a tea or coffee mug. With this mug I would also like to design a spoon, and a small hole within the handle to hold the spoon, so that it can be used as a set. I think this project would be really enjoyable to make since I would be able to put it to good use after class ends, and even keep it here at school with me to use.

This week I chose to blog about this particular piece.  It appears it was created using the wheel method and the artist cut different variations to create the design.  This may be my favorite piece I have seen yet.  I think the intrinsic design is unbelievable.  I like how this work of art has a rustic feel to it.  It almost appears as it was created with deer antlers.  I feel that it appears different than the pieces we are normally see and that is what draws my attention to it.

This is a picture of my grandmothers china.  It is simple and elegant, I love this set.  She was given this before her and my grandfather got married in 1960.

Robert Arneson was definitely a very unique artist than most who wasn't afraid to expose the vulgarity and honesty of reality. In this sculpture, he voices his political views of being a "vehicle" for anger and pain. He once said, " I want to make high art that is funny, outrageous and also reveals the human condition, which is not always high.”
