"Assassination of a Famous Nut Artist" done by Robert Arnerson is one of his best known self portraits, depicting a far from heroic subject on a traditionally portrait bust. His works mocked himself and portrays the psychological pain using physical objects one see from comics and cartoons. This work of art is rich in colors but hideous in descriptive details hence making it stand out.

In this sculpture, he voices his political views of being a "vehicle" for anger and pain. He once said, " I want to make high art that is funny, outrageous and also reveals the human condition, which is not always high.”

Bernard Leach Pottery

            This is a Bernard Leach ceramic piece. This marmalade jar was painted blue and has brown designs over a cream ground. The rim is thin and has a notch for a spoon which I thought was useful for its purpose.  I enjoy the contemporary design and the simple shape of the jar. The brush work of the glaze gives the piece a sophisticated look and feel to it, which I enjoyed.

Al Wei Wei

Al Wei Wei is a a Chinese artist most famous for his contemporary work. He takes old pots and is able to refurbish them into more modern pieces of ceramics. His work is displayed in an art gallery with a picture of himself dropping his own ceramic pot. I find his pieces very interesting because they put a modern twist on an older piece of art.
