Susan B. Anthony

this plate setting was dedicated to Susan B. Anthony, she was the face of the American suffrage movement and one of its primary organizers. the article says that before she was sixteen she  started teaching. the image on the table represents queen of the table, which shows how its trying to lift off the table with force in vain to escape. i really like the plate setting and the way it is 3 demensional.

This week I chose to blog about this particular piece.  It appears it was created using the wheel method and the artist cut different variations to create the design.  This may be my favorite piece I have seen yet.  I think the intrinsic design is unbelievable.  I like how this work of art has a rustic feel to it.  It almost appears as it was created with deer antlers.  I feel that it appears different than the pieces we are normally see and that is what draws my attention to it.

This is a picture of my grandmothers china.  It is simple and elegant, I love this set.  She was given this before her and my grandfather got married in 1960.

Robert Arneson was definitely a very unique artist than most who wasn't afraid to expose the vulgarity and honesty of reality. In this sculpture, he voices his political views of being a "vehicle" for anger and pain. He once said, " I want to make high art that is funny, outrageous and also reveals the human condition, which is not always high.”
