Bernard Leach Two-handled Jar


This Jar made by Bernard Leach caught my attention because of the unique incorporation of two handles. I also like this piece because of the beautiful transition of brown and beige colors. The rim of this piece seems to give an illusion of a melting candle, dripping down the jar. The carving in the middle gives it originality and demonstrates that it is a piece by Bernard Leach.

Al Wei Wei is a a Chinese artist most famous for his contemporary work. He takes old pots and is able to refurbish them into more modern pieces of ceramics. His work is displayed in an art gallery with a picture of himself dropping his own ceramic pot. I find his pieces very interesting because they put a modern twist on an older piece of art.

Terracotta Warriors

This is a re-do on an a terracotta warrior, with bright colors. Roughly 700,000 workers created the terracotta figures for the Emperor and each soldier has its own unique facial expression. It is very fined detailed in my opinion and found very interesting that there is a story behind all these warrior at the time of Qin Shin Huang.
