Bernard Leach

This is a piece by British potter Bernard Leach. He is known as the "Father of British Studio Pottery". Leach advocated for simple forms of pottery. His pots were ethical and promoted an aesthetic concern rather than functional. I chose this piece because it reminds me of a cookie jar and I can tell it was done on a wheel. I like the intricate artistic details on the pot and how the lid looks like it has different layers even though it is just a paint effect.
