Bernard Leach




Bernard Leach was regarded as the "Father of British Studio Pottery" because he was British but had a unique asian style he added to his work. Living in Japan for so long influenced his work and his worked influenced contemporary ceramic designs. This piece by him caught my eye because the fish design showed how much of his work was influenced from where he grew up for so long. It looks like he used a wheel to make this beautiful piece.

Al Wei Wei is a a Chinese artist most famous for his contemporary work. He takes old pots and is able to refurbish them into more modern pieces of ceramics. His work is displayed in an art gallery with a picture of himself dropping his own ceramic pot. I find his pieces very interesting because they put a modern twist on an older piece of art.

Terracotta Warriors

This is a re-do on an a terracotta warrior, with bright colors. Roughly 700,000 workers created the terracotta figures for the Emperor and each soldier has its own unique facial expression. It is very fined detailed in my opinion and found very interesting that there is a story behind all these warrior at the time of Qin Shin Huang.
