Maria Longworth Nichols


I chose this piece by Maria Longworth Nichols because of its timeless elegance.  I appreciate not only the shape but also the opening at the top for how crafty it is.  In addition, I think that the glaze on the outside adds to the elegance.  It looks very shiny and sleek and definitely grabs one's attention.

Al Wei Wei is a a Chinese artist most famous for his contemporary work. He takes old pots and is able to refurbish them into more modern pieces of ceramics. His work is displayed in an art gallery with a picture of himself dropping his own ceramic pot. I find his pieces very interesting because they put a modern twist on an older piece of art.

Terracotta Warriors

This is a re-do on an a terracotta warrior, with bright colors. Roughly 700,000 workers created the terracotta figures for the Emperor and each soldier has its own unique facial expression. It is very fined detailed in my opinion and found very interesting that there is a story behind all these warrior at the time of Qin Shin Huang.
