I found the piece above particularly interesting as it evokes a sense of the sea and the natural beauty within.  It utilizes the imagination of the artist and the reality of the creature to create a ceramic piece of art that is both unique and appealing to the observer.  I believe this is the case because we often see images of the octopus online or in books, but rarely in person; therefore, they often appear as odd and sometimes alien creatures.   Therefore, the observer is seeing something that is both real and in a sense fantasy.
